Pair a scholar with a mentor

Choose a real scholar and mentor, then verify the active pair.

Before you start

Staff/admin with access to the scholar and candidates. A person cannot mentor themselves; pairing grants no access to the mentee’s private record.

Steps

  1. Open People → Mentors and review unmatched scholars and candidate loads.
  2. Select Pair a scholar to open Pair a scholar with a mentor. Choose the Scholar and a different Mentor. Peer recommendations and the approximate group-size target inform review; they do not decide it.
  3. Select Save pairing. Reopen Mentorships and check the scholar under the correct mentor’s active group.
  4. When a pairing ends, use End and check the saved end date. Keep the historical relationship rather than deleting it.

Check the result

The active pair remains in the mentor group after reopening; the scholar can see their mentor in the directory. An ended pair remains historical evidence.

If something goes wrong

No fields or Pair control in the reported New record dialog means no pairing can be completed there. Report the screen. If the save result is uncertain, inspect active groups before retrying to avoid duplicates.
